WHAT A COMPUTER IS ?

A computer is an electronics device that accepts input data and manipulates it for some result based on a program or sequence of instructions on how the data is to be processed and finally it gives desired result, i.e., information (processed data) as output. It can also store and retrieve data as and when required. 

The word "computer" is derived from the Latin word "compute", which means "to calculate' or "to manipulate". Therefore, formerly, it is known as a calculating device. But now-a-days it is used in many places. You can use a computer to type documents, send email, and browse the internet. You can also use it to handle spreadsheets, accounting, database management, presentations, games, and more.
